From the hotel, with bus n° 29-30-35, you get off at the train station and, by foot, go ahead plunging in a magic atmosphere out of time. From Santa Maria Novella Church, going ahead after passing Piazza della Repubblica (Republic Square), one cannot avoid stopping at Santa Maria del Fiore church, known as Florence “Duomo”, the fourth church in the world for size and greatness, and dominating the city, thanks to its panoramic view from Giotto’s bell tower or Brunelleschi Dome. In the same place, you can admire and enter the famous Battistero (baptistery). On the other side of Republic Square, you can reach Piazza della Signoria, (Signoria Square) next to Palazzo Vecchio or della Signoria (Signoria Palace) and to Galleria degli Uffizi (Uffizi Gallery) wich is the seat of one of the most important artistic collection in Italy and in the world. Corridoio Vasariano (Vasarian corridor) is a covered bridge built up by Vasari artist: starting from Palazzo Vecchio, going along Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge), it reaches Palazzo Pitti (Pitti Palace) until getting Forte Belvedere (Belvedere fortress).
Not leaving the centre, let’s focus the attention on the most beautiful Church of the city probably: Basilica di Santa Croce, Opera di Santa Croce Museum annexed and the front homonymous square. Walking towards city centre, just in a few minutes you get to National Museum of Bargello, that hosts many artists interesting and various works (busts, pottery, goldsmithry, ivories). Just a little over the “Duomo”, you could go deeply into Medici Florence family, Medicean Chapels, homonymous Palace and San Lorenzo Basilica; following a fantastic view o Accademia Galleries, inside you can admire Michelangelo’s David, architectural genius exceptional expression.
Just outer of the city centre, but reachable by foot, you will find Arno river. Take a rest on romantic Ponte Vecchio, taking a glance at the ancient little shops situated on that, and continue up to Oltrarno (over Arno), the “newest” part of Florence. Spend your day in Boboli’s Gardens, behind Pitti Palace, Florence Dukes former residence, appealing first of all for its frequent and various art collections. Otherwise, get up the hill which is backside Piazzale Michelangelo and come to San Miniato Church and Holy Sanctuary to be delighted by an incredible view on Florence.
This city appeal is not only artistic and architectural, but also winery and gastronomic one, fashion, handicraft, contemporary culture, and lied to world of events in general.
Recently, it has been completed the Fortezza da Basso property passage to local authorities, willing to transform this area into a vanguard exposition pole. It has been used, in effect, as the seat of Florence Fair Pole in the last years, and hosts concerts, meetings, international initiatives, among them “Pitti Immagine”, a cradle for Italian and foreign latest fashion industry.
Congress Palace takes its seat in nineteenth-century Villa Vittoria. This villa was built up by Strozzi Family and it is set only a few minutes from city centre. The building, surrounded by a park, is integrated by a magnificent auditorium, accommodating up to 1.000 people.
Also connected to Congress Palace is Business Palace, polyvalent and flexible structure having over 4000 mq area and a complexity capacity of 1.800 people, able to welcome congress and expositional demonstrations, poster sessions, press-rooms, high fashion show, not excluding business lunch and gala dinner. Noticeable its attic, where you can admire a lovely panorama of the wide centuries-old park and Florence all.
